Its origins are an ambiguous mix of fiction and reality and some people suggested that “Charles Johnson” was actually Daniel Defoe. Since 2008, Mathieu Briand has invited artists including Thomas Hirschhorn, Pierre Huyghe, Gabriel Kuri, and The Chapusiat Brothers, to make this ambiguity a “reality”.
