Matt’s Gallery Current Exhibitions
Gallery One: Fiona Crisp, Negative Capability: The Stourhead Cycle, 20 June-29 July 2012
A cycle of eight large-scale photographic works shown for the first time continuing Crisp’s exploration of what, in phenomenological terms, a photograph is – What is it capable of? The historic house at Stourhead is employed by Crisp as a formal device to reflect upon the colliding imperatives of heritage, leisure and history at a site of national cultural significance.
Gallery Two: Jennet Thomas, SCHOOL OF CHANGE, 20 June-29 July 2012
Thomas’ second exhibition at Matt’s Gallery is a performative installation incorporating a new experimental, musical science fiction film made with composer Leo Chadburn (aka Simon Bookish). SCHOOL OF CHANGE is based in a distorted reality that satirically reflects our own; where changes, social, technological – even mutations in the workings of reason itself – are threatening the viability of humanity.
